In the last few years, our temple has not actively participated in the Women‘s Federation of the Jodo Shinshu Buddhist Temples of Canada. Ten years ago, our Fujinakai disbanded as a organization within our temple structure. As a result, our temple dropped out of the women‘s national organization. However, many of our members still wished to be a part of the national organization. They were welcomed as individual members, therefore, our temple board paid the annual due of $5.00 per member for our 48 interested members. Our temple, as a unit, is not considered a voting member temple to the JSBTC Women‘s Federation. Our members are able to participate in all their activities and events, but do not have voting power at their meetings although they could actively participate in discussions.
The temple board strongly feels that our temple should be an active part of this very important segment of the Jodo Shinshu sangha across Canada and internationally.
We appeal to our members, both women and men, to come forward and show their commitment to the Jodo Shinshu family and become individual members of the national Women‘s Federation
We will circulate a sign-up list for those who are interested in joining the JSBTC Women‘s Federation.
