Message from the VBT Board - February 2012

How time passes so quickly when you are involved in Temple activities and your daily happenings. I thought I had just written the article for the January issue of our Bodhi Mind and I received an email from our English Editor, Joanne, that articles for the February issue are needed to be handed in.
January was a busy month with the New Year‘s Day Service and our first Musical Hoonko Service with guest minister Rev. Inokoji-Kim of Sacramento. Wish to thank Aoki Sensei, Bob Sensei, Cathy Nishikawa and Debbie Saimoto for all their efforts to have this service and to Sachiko Renovich for chairing the service. The event was a great success in conjunction with the Pre-Tokudo Ordination Orientation of six candidates from across Canada. The Future of Jodo Shinshu in Canada looks very bright with these aspirants. Aoki Sensei and Socho Ikuta worked hard for hosting this worthwhile project.
A delicious Shojin ryori (vegetarian) lunch was prepared by the Toban and helpers.
We wished Rev. Fujikawa and Minako-san all the best in their new posting in Salinas Buddhist Temple in California.
We will be having our Annual AGM on Sunday February 26th at 1:00 PM. Please plan to attend this very important meeting.
Coming events:Friday February 3rd—7:00 PM Public Lecture at VBT (Ms. Jessica Main)
Saturday February 4th—9:00 AM Manju Making
Sunday February 5th—10:30 AM Nirvana day/Shotsuki and New Year‘s Party (Guest Speaker Ms. Jessica Main)
Sunday February 26th—1:00 PM VBT AGM
Please come and join us at these services and events.
On behalf of the Vancouver Buddhist Temple Board of Directors and myself, thank you once again for all your support.
In gassho,
Frank Hamanishi
