Spirituality and Buddhism Workshop - Patrick Couling - Wednesdays 7-9pm March 14 to April 25th

Spirituality and Buddhism Workshop and Course

Patrick Couling is a Buddhist scholar whose primary interest is Buddhist Cosmology and Mysticism. His focus is the integration of non-dualism (Advaita, Madhyhamika), Spiritualism (the After-Life) and Enlightenment. He has taught “A Course in Miracles” (ACIM) for nearly 20 years.

This is a workshop about Spirituality. Of course, there are many points of view but all spiritual practice has two fundamental goals:

  1.  In Eastern cultures, the goal has always been “Enlightenment”.
  2.  In Western cultures, the goal has traditionally been “Union with God”.

(“Enlightenment” means a non-dualistic realization of all that is while “Union with God” refers to the practitioner’s direct experience of God - Different words that can mean the same thing.)

During this course, we will define our spiritual goal and we will then explore common Eastern and Western spiritual concepts that can help us achieve that goal. Important! You will be introduced to meditation and contemplation techniques and, during each session, you will practice under supervision.

Source Material:

  1. The foundational concepts of Advaita and Buddhism (especially lessons about “Enlightenment” by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and core lessons from Jodo Shinshu.)
  2. FWH Myers and Maurice Barbanell both wrote extensively … from the After-Life.
  3. A Course In Miracles (ACIM), Seth and Emmanuel.
  4. A summary of academic research about “Near Death Experiences” (NDE’s), Mystical Experiences” and “Peak Experiences”.

You will receive a comprehensive set of ACIM and spiritual notes including notes at the similarities of NDE’s, Mystical Experiences and Peak Experiences. Who should attend? You are serious about your spiritual path and are curious about what it all entails. But, spirituality is a broad subject. We will focus on the traditional interpretations that are common to Advaita, Buddhism, ACIM and modern academic research into NDE’s, Mysticism and Peak Experiences.
